Spring 2015 Show: SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL

I'd like to OFFICIALLY announce that we have been approved to produce SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL as our 2015 Spring Production! See my last post if you haven't already for the full rehearsal schedule: Performances will be April 16th @7:30 PM, April 17th 7:30 PM, and April 18th @ 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM.

From the MTI website: "Now one of the most performed shows in America, Seussical is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! TONY winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Lucky Stiff, My Favorite Year, Once On This Island and Ragtime) have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie, and a little boy with a big imagination--Jojo. The colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos."

To clarify a point that I know has come up, yes, UTMS is performing the Junior version of Seussical a few weeks after our performance. To be specific, the Junior version is a heavily condensed/edited 60 minute version, and is not the same as our production. I know this because I am already volunteering my time at the Middle School to make BOTH shows a success! You guys know I don't play favorites, and I mean it. I also have some fun ideas to make the community aware of the good work everyone "Who's" a theatre kid is doing!

For auditions, please prepare a song 24-32 bars (a bar is a measure of music) long. It does not have to be from this show, and on the whole I prefer it not to be (but won't count it against you if you do)---it just needs to show off your singing and acting abilities. (You do have to be able to do both at the same time, after all!) You may use either sheet music (we will have an accompanist Monday and Tuesday, but not Wednesday) or prerecorded music (preferably without the vocals, so we can hear your voice!).

More info about characters and auditions will be released over the next few days. Audition sign-ups will be on the choir bulletin board when we return from the holiday on Tuesday.

Spread the word--it's go time, guys!
